Chefs gone wild for charity
Chefs and wild animals aren't necessarily the closest of best friends - unless maybe when one is served up on the other's platter.
They'll be found together this November, however, in a charity event merging animal fund-raising and fine dining.
Celebrity chef and Masterchef host George Calombaris is fronting the dinner for Melbourne Zoo which aims to raise funds for breeding programs and animal care.
The event for Zoos Victoria has been running for the last four years but this is the first time the dinner is being hosted at the actual Zoo.
Guests will enjoy six courses prepared by chefs
including George Calombaris (The Press Club), Matt Moran (Aria), Shane
Delia (Maha), Travis McAuley (Hellenic Republic), Philippe Mouchel (P M 24), and Adriano Zumbo (Patisserie), served with wines.
The event will raise awareness about the current state of our native wildlife and much gain needed funds so they can be saved from extinction, says not for profit Zoos Victoria.
It says this is especially important at a time when Australian mammalian extinction rates are at an all time high.
All proceeds from the fundraising event will go towards caring for the animals at Zoos Victoria's three zoos, as well as continuing breeding and research projects.
Guests will also be given the chance to snap up some fantastic auction items to help raise much needed funds for Zoos Victoria’s conservation work. |
